Enchanting To 525 Illustrious – How To Sell Your Wares.

June 11th, 2010 · No Comments

The introduction of the inscription profession into Warcraft was a godsend for enchanters, saving them a lot of time in the marketplace.

There was no way of actually marketing your whereas, as an enchanter without standing in the middle of your local city and calling out on the trade channel A process that might often take hours and hours of your time just to sell a couple of items.

However, life is much easier now, and scribes make “vellums” which can hold enchantments which can them be marketed at the auction house like anything else. Phew!

Of course, this makes inscription a very good second choice as a crafting profession. Both provide buffs and inscription since patch 3.2 has provided a very nice set of desirable items. With Cataclysm and Enchanting 525 illustrious, expect things to change again.

Not that I would advise having two crafting professions, especially for a first character. This is a very expensive way to play, and you may well spend most of your time grinding mobs for cloth or decent greens or blues to sell on.

My main tactic for making a profit with this profession is to make a small spreadsheet with ten or twelve high level enchantments on, and check the availability of these in the auction house.

Next I compare this with the materials I have at hand and the cost of some of the ingredients and reagents currently also at the auction house.

On occasion you may be able to simply buy most of what you need to make a good enchantment, and still make a good profit. Most of the time though you will need to source elsewhere due to lack of availability, or the prohibitive cost.

Having a high level character with two gathering professions is a great idea here. Questing or instancing with this character to get the materials you need for your enchanter. So it’s a good idea to have all characters up to Level 525 Illustrious with their professions, not just your enchanter.

At the end however, you may still need to disenchant blue or even epic “purple” items for the ingredients you need. So having a guild mate who can make disenchant-able items with a crafting profession – can save a lot of time and effort.

Does this sound harder than most professions? Well it probably is, but it also one of the most rewarding and profitable ways to play, especially end game. I wish you good luck on getting to Enchanting 525 Illustrious.
